
Authentic Tamar Hindi (Egyptian Tamarind Drink)

Ingredients
- 1 cup tamarind pulp (seedless)
- 6 cups water
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp orange blossom water (optional)
- 1 Ice cubes
- 1 Fresh mint leaves for garnish
- 1 Lemon slices for garnish
Instructions

Place the tamarind pulp in a saucepan with the water.

Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.

Remove from the heat and allow the mixture to steep for another 10 minutes.

Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on the pulp to extract as much liquid as possible.

Discard the solids.

Stir in the honey until dissolved.

Add the lemon juice and orange blossom water, if using.

Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.

Serve over plenty of ice and garnish with fresh mint and lemon slices.
